This week, AAPA Board Chairman Rob McGuire announced the departure of Mr. Caltabiano, who will begin his new appointment with the independent road research body November 14.

“AAPA is a stronger more vibrant, engaged and progressive organisation that it has ever been with a great track record of successes over the past three years in the technology, communications, training and safety arenas.

“Everyone at AAPA wishes Michael the very best for his new role at ARRB where he not only brings technical and roads expertise but a strong track record or organisational reform and a wealth of industry knowledge.”

“I am excited to start my new role and the opportunity to develop a modern sustainable future direction of the ARRB Group and road transport research in general across Australia,” said Mr. Caltabiano. “My experiences at AAPA and the wonderful friendships and close relationships with industry will continue to be strong a link for the future and a stronger more co-ordinated approach to the development and advancement of our road and transport future as a Nation.”

Chairman of the Board for ARRB Group, Peter Duncan said: “I look forward to working with an industry leader like Michael in this exciting new chapter for the organisation. We have already commenced planning a future direction for ARRB and will look to implement collaborative strategies inclusive of ARRB staff and stakeholders in the coming months.

“Leadership and collaboration really goes to the heart of ARRB as an organisation. Research can only deliver its true value when adopted into practice. By academia, government and private sectors working together, we can ensure ARRB’s world class research is quickly applied and adopted in the real-world,” said Mr. Duncan.

Mr. Caltabiano takes on the role at ARRB from outgoing Managing Director Gerard Waldron, who retires in November.

He will be welcoming delegates and guests that are attending the 27th ARRB Conference, Melbourne, Victoria from the 16 – 18 November 2016.
