Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) Senior Pavement Engineer Dr. James Grenfell has been elected as Director-at-Large of the Board of the International Society of Asphalt Pavements (ISAP).
“I am proud to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the ISAP as a Director-at-Large,” said Dr. Grenfell. “This role is a reflection of my work within asphalt research and I am looking forward to promoting various aspects of asphalt research.”
Dr. Grenfell’s appointment will reportedly further enhance ARRB’s reputation across the globe.
“This will allow me to share ARRB’s groundbreaking research across the wider pavement community,” said Dr. Grenfell. “ISAP will also offer their support to ARRB’s initiatives and conferences and the role will allow me to represent and promote the Australian asphalt pavement technologist’s perspective internationally.”
Dr. Grenfell is expected to hold the new appointment for a three-year term. He joins a board of other highly esteemed directors and is among distinguished company.
The ISAP was formed in 1987 following the 6th International Conference on the Structural Design of Asphalt Pavements, held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in the US, according to the ARRB.
“The Asphalt Institute was a major ‘founding father’ for the society,” ARRB said in a statement. “The principal objective was to provide an organisation that could take responsibility for continuing this prestigious series of conferences.”
