Billion-dollar boost for Mackay-Whitsunday roads

The funding is allocated under the Queensland Transport and Road Infrastructure Program (QTRIP), which will be used to boost major road projects underway and those yet to begin over the next four years.

Projects under the program that are already underway include the $57.5 million upgrade to Sandy Gully Bridge and approaches, and the $189 million Eton Range Realignment.

The investment also covers the design and constriction of the $560 million Mackay Rung Road Stage 1, as well as several overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway.

The funding allocated for Mackay and Whitsundays road is part of the Queensland Government’s overall planned spending of $20 billion for state road and transport programs over four years.
