Contract awarded to build Australia’s largest solar farm

German company BELECTRIC Solar and Battery GmbH awarded Downer the contract to build energy company innogy SE’s 349 megawatt Limondale Solar Farm in NSW.

Notice to proceed has been issued to Downer, with construction expected to be completed in 2020.

Downer Executive Director Utilities Trevor Cohen said the company is pleased to be working with BELECTRIC on the Limondale Solar Farm, which will deliver significant economic and environmental benefits for the local community.

“Once the Limondale Solar Farm is built, Downer will have constructed close to three gigawatts of renewable energy projects,” he said.

BELECTRIC Managing Director Martin Zembsch said they were delighted to have Downer deliver the solar farm.

“This is an important project for BELECTRIC, because it marks our clear intention to grow our business in Australia,” Mr Zembsch said.
