The Victorian Government is seeking a builder to take on the $300 million Mordiallic Bypass.
By completing the new road, safety and traffic flow will improve and provide Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs with better access to local jobs and recreation centres, according to the State government.
A preferred candidate to build the project is expected to be announced later in 2018.
The nine kilometre road will link the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Springvale Road, and Aspendale Gardens to the Dingley bypass in Dingley Village.
It will also include two new bridges, four new intersections and new off-road paths for cyclists and pedestrians.
An Envrionmental Effects Statement is currently being drafted to decide how to properly manage the potential environmental, social, economic and cultural impacts.
“This project will unlock congestion through the south-east and transform the way Melburnians move – ensuring better access to jobs, schools and recreational centres,” said Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson.
