Stage 3A of the light rail project includes construction of eight stations, upgraded pedestrian and cycling facilities and an upgraded bus interchange facility at Burleigh Heads.

According to a statement from the government, the project brings opportunities for urban revitalisation at the Burleigh Heads and Nobby Beach precincts and will cut travel time to Broadbeach by 16 minutes,

The government estimates the works will support 2400 jobs during construction and up to 39 per year during operation.

The investment builds on the $460 million already allocated by the Federal Government to the first two stages of the Gold Coast Light Rail

A future Stage 3B would complete the corridor, according to the government, connecting Coolangatta Airport with the earlier stages of the light rail network.
