Engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Aurecon has announced the appointment of its Global Service Leader for Ground & Underground Engineering and its Chief Information Officer.

Engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Aurecon has made two key leadership appointments in the past couple of weeks.

Geoff Linke, the organisation’s Infrastrcuture Managing Director, announced Sukmar Pathmanandavel as Aurecon’s new Global Service Leader for Ground & Underground Engineering, and Carl Duckinson as its Chief Information Officer.

Mr. Pathmanandavel will lead a team of geotechnical, tunnel and pavement specialists to push knowledge sharing, shape future capabilities, and guide the use of new technologies while working closely with firm’s Global Director for Excellence and Expertise.

“Sukumar’s knowledge and experience, gained by working on some of the most technically challenging projects around the world, will prove highly valuable as we continue to bring our clients’ ideas to life,” said Mr. Linke in a statement.

Mr. Pathmanandaver expressed his pleasure at taking up the position with Aurecon.

“The industry is going through a significant shift in direction. Traditionally, the ground engineering field has concentrated on refining established methods, rather than imagining what is possible,” he said.

“I see Aurecon as a company that is challenging traditional thinking and leveraging digital to solve problems. I’m excited to be part of the disruption.

“At Aurecon, we’re not constrained by what we’ve done before and we’re always looking for new ways we can shape the industry.”

Andrew Muller, Aurecon’s Global Chief Financial Officer welcomed the addition of Mr. Duckinson to the IT team.

Mr. Muller said that Mr. Duckinson’s proven track record as a senior IT executive in large and complex organisations, most notably including his skills in mapping technology strategy to business strategy and his strong track record of developing high performing teams, was important for Aurecon.

Carl recently led the Toll Group’s technology transformation, which included a period as Toll’s Interim CIO. Prior to that, he was CIO of Australia’s largest independent gold miner, Newcrest Mining, for seven years. He has also worked at Avanade and BHP.

Mr. Duckinson was excited at the prospect of taking up his new role in Melbourne with the firm this month.

He said he has been drawn to Aurecon because of its impressive engineering portfolio, its energetic culture and its strong interest in innovation, IT and digital initiatives.

“I believe Aurecon is well advanced in understanding what digital means and how digital influences the future of engineering. The company is eager to harness the opportunities that digital disruption presents,” he said.

“My role will be to continue to support strong cross-border collaboration to ensure that the business is able to respond to rapid change within the energy and resources, built environment and infrastructure industries.”
