The Australian Constructers Association (ACA) and Engineers Australian (EA) have praised the major project at Holsworthy in Sydney’s south west, as the winner of the prestigious award.

The three-year project involved the demobilisation of 13 Defence Units and facilities, including the School of Military Engneering and 2000 Defence personell from a 190-hectare site at Moorebank and the relocation to new, purpose-built facilities.

Announced in Perth late last month, the award is the peak annual award for major projects in Australia’s construction industry.

Laing O’Rourke’s Australia Hub Managing Director Cathal O’Rourke also said in a statement that he was extremely proud of the team that delivered this significant project.

“Our innovative approach to project and supply chain management, high-security delivery methods and detailed stakeholder management ensured the successful delivery of this project,” Mr. O’Rourke said.

“It was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget for a satisfied client that sees it as a benchmark for delivering all major construction and engineering schemes in the future.

The other finalist projects included Barangaroo Reserve. Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, Gateway WA Perth Airport and Freight Access Glenfield to Leppington Rail Link and North Strathfield Rail Underpass.
