A new Community Road Safety Grants (CRSG) program is included in the development of the plan, which will support local councils and community groups in their efforts to help reduce road trauma.

The new program is developed by the Department of State Growth in consultation with local councils and will provide funding for both small and medium to large projects. This includes $600,000 allocated from the Road Safety Levy over the next three years.

Councils, community groups and schools will be able to apply for funding between $500 and $25,000 for evidence-based road safety projects.

Grant applications will be assessed twice a year, with the first round of applications closing on Friday 11 September.
