According to news.com.au, Marmion will focus on the Forrestfield-Airport rail link and Roe 8 highway extension project, a major part of the $2 billion Perth Freight Link.

Premier Colin Barnett announced Marmion’s appointment, according to Business News Western Australia.

“Bill was a civil engineer for Main Roads before entering state parliament,” Barnett said to the news outlet.

“He has been a minister since 2010 and I have every confidence he is the right person to continue to move forward major public infrastructure projects such as the Forrestfield-Airport Link, NorthLink WA and Roe 8.”

According to Perth Now, the Transport portfolio will have huge implications for the future shape of Perth, with Nalder reportedly resigning in protest at the Premier’s leadership style and over the shelving of Fremantle Tunnel section of the Perth Freight Link.
