SA Infrastructure secures $395M of funding

The Federal Government has announced $395 million in funding for three key South Australian infrastructure projects.

Regency Road to Pym Street will receive $177 million from the Federal Government, with an additional $220 million for the Gawler line electrification and $160 million for the Joy Baluch bridge project. The establishment of the independent advisory body is another step closer to fruition, following the introduction of the Infrastructure SA Bill 2018 into South Australian Parliament this week.

This funding is in addition to the $162 million that was included within the Federal Budget for these projects earlier in May.

A further $70,8 million in federal funding has also been delivered for the $88.5 million Port Wakefield overpass and road duplication.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said the state is able to accelerate the delivery of this funding to deliver these projects more rapidly.

“The State Government is building a strong pipeline of productive infrastructure projects to help unlock South Australia’s economic potential,” Mr Marshall said.

“These key infrastructure projects will support our construction industry, creating more jobs and providing certainty into the future.”

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll said the state government would continue to build the infrastructure project pipeline.

These projects will help grow South Australia’s economy, create more jobs and benefit road and public transport commuters,” said Mr Knoll.

“The Gawler line electrification project will deliver a better, more reliable and efficient service.

“These other significant road projects will also help to ease traffic congestion, cut travel times and make our roads safer,” he said.
