Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the upcoming 2018-19 state budget will deliver $45 billion worth of infrastructure over the next four years – the biggest since 2011.
Works have begun on two major upgrades on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and between the Kairong and Somersby interchanges.
The Australian and New South Wales Governments have awarded the construction contract to upgrade the intersection of Weakleys Drive and John Renshaw Drive on the M1.
Construction is set to begin on widening the M1 between Mudgeeraba and Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, following the awarding of the project contract.
Two tunnel boring machines – 90 metres long, 15.6 metres in diameter and weighing 4000 tonnes each, have been selected to build Melbourne’s $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel.
The successful contractor will commence construction on the project next month, now expected to cost $6.7 billion – about $1.2 billion above its original estimated cost, with the Victorian Government finalising contracts on the project this week.
