Tender awarded for Pacific Hwy/Wyong Rd intersection upgrade

Tender awarded for Pacific Hwy/Wyong Rd intersection upgradeParliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Scot MacDonald MLC announced last week in a statement that Seymour Whyte Constructions has been awarded the contract to carry out major work to upgrade the Pacific Highway and Wyong Road intersection at Tuggerah.

“The NSW Government allocated $84 million to upgrade the intersection which involves replacing the existing roundabout with traffic lights to improve safety and traffic flow,” Mr. MacDonald said in the statement.

“Work will start early next year with the project aiming to reduce congestion along the Pacific Highway and Wyong Road and provide more reliable travel times for the more than 55,000 road users who use this intersection daily.”

The upgrade includes building a new bridge for eastbound traffic and widening Wyong Road to provide three lanes in each direction.

The existing pedestrian underpass will also be extended.

Roads and Maritime Services started early works this year, which included utility relocation, road surface repairs, removing vegetation and installing stormwater drainage, new kerb and guttering.

Seymour Whyte Constructions was selected from three pre-qualified contractors who were invited to submit tenders after expressions of interest closed in April.
