Two tenderers have been selected to progress to the next stage of the procurement process for the Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway section of the project.

A Fulton Hogan/Seymour Whyte Joint Venture and The Infrastructure Group have been shortlisted as the two proponents.

Queensland Minister for Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports Mark Bailey said in a statement that community feedback would play an important part in shaping the final layout of this project.

“Shortlisted proponents have been tasked with addressing key issues identified from extensive engagement undertaken with the community,” Mr. Bailey said.

“Environmental factors remain a high priority, with reducing impacts on the Beerwah State forest integral to the next design stage.

“Maintaining access to local businesses, particularly the local Aussie World precinct, is also a priority, as is minimising impacts on the community and road users during construction, which is expected to start in late 2016.”

The shortlisting marks the official start of Stage One of the project.

The two tenderers have until late March 2016 to prepare and then present their offer, with the award of contract expected in mid-2016.
