Tenders open for Mona Vale Road East upgrade

Electric vehicle charging stations have been installed at Townsville and Carmila, creating an 'electric super highway' between Coolangatta and Cairns in Queensland.

The NSW Roads and Maritime services have invited tenders for the Mona Vale Road East upgrade.

The NSW Government is funding the upgrade between Ingleside and Mona Vale to improve safety and traffic flow for the thousands of motorists that use the road daily. Tenders for the Mona Vale Road East upgrade have been invited by the NSW Roads and Maritime services.

NSW Minister Rob Stokes said they have reached a key milestone in this vital project.

“An enormous amount of preliminary work has been completed over recent years to reach this point where construction tenders are now being invited,” Mr Stokes said.

“The project will include building additional lanes for climbing and descending to improve travel times, as well as wider shoulders, median separation and a heavy vehicle arrester bed to enhance safety.”

“A three metre wide shared path will be built along Mona Vale Road between Lane Cove Road East and Foley Street to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists,” he said.

“Mona Vale Road is the main east-west link between the Pacific Highway at Pymble and Pittwater Road at Mona Vale – so it’s increasingly important for this project to be completed.”

Mr Stokes said the NSW Roads and Maritime services is looking for prequalified and resources contractors that can deliver on the complex civil project to submit tenders.

“Work associated with this tender includes earth work, road and shoulder widening, utility relocation, intersection upgrades, slope stabilisation, fauna crossings and landscaping work,” he said.

Prospective tenderers are required to lodge tenders by 2.30pm on 30 April 2018 via the E-Tender website.
