WA State Budget: $7.7b invested in transport infrastructure

The Western Australian Government is investing $7.7 billion on transport infrastructure over the next four years as detailed in the State Budget 2016-17, released this week.

This multi-billion-dollar investment in transport accounts for 34 per cent of the total infrastructure investment outlined in the latest budget.

Key road and transport investments under the $7.7 billion spending include:

  • –  $2 billion Forrestfield-Airport Link, scheduled to begin operations in 2020
  • –  $1.5 billion towards the Perth Freight Link, due for completion in 2021‑22
  • –  $427 million for the $1.9 billion MAX Light Rail project
  • –  $145 million for dual carriageway on Armadale Road
  • –  $49 million for Ellenbrook Bus Rapid Transit project
