Works on the Cardinia Road Station are set to begin with parking capacity expected to increase by over 50 per cent from 571 to 871 spaces.
The new carpark is also set to include six accessible parking spots, CCTV, lighting and footpaths aimed to make travel safer and more convenient for drivers.
Machinery will arrive on site to the west of the station, replacing the projects site compound. Access to the station will now be via Village Way, Pakenham.
The upgrade is part of the Victorian Government’s Car Parks for Commuters program and carried out by crews from the Level Crossing Removal Project.
These works follow the competition of over a kilometre of new pedestrian and shared paths finished earlier this year that connected the Cardinia Road Station to local bus stops and the Lakeside Shopping centre.
The parking upgrade is expected to be completed late 2021.
