As part of the contract, Downer will deliver routine maintenance, planned maintenance, defect repairs and emergency response services to more than 8500 kilometres of road in the Hume region, located in north-eastern Victoria.
The contract begins in February 2023 for an initial three-and-a-half-year term, with the option for two two-year extensions. The contract has a maximum term of seven-and-a-half years.
Grant Fenn, Downer CEO, said the contract would extend Downer’s strong partnership with the Department of Transport.
“We have been maintaining roads in Victoria since 2003, and we look forward to working closely with the Department of Transport to deliver road networks that ensure safe, efficient and reliable journeys, contribute to the State’s net zero emissions by 2050 target, provide sustainable employment, and create opportunities for local service providers and suppliers,” Fenn said.
Downer is maintaining more than 28,000 kilometres of roads across Australia and more than 25,000 kilometres across New Zealand.
