AAPA opens EOI for IKT 2020

Expressions of interest are open for the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association’s (AAPA) 2020 international knowledge transfer (IKT) event.

According to an AAPA statement, delegates will visit the UK, Germany and France to meet with leaders in key interest areas.

“AAPA has been conducting a dedicated program of international outreach for more than 30 years, providing the Australian road industry with access to and details of new products, processes and design tools that deliver better value for money solutions to the Australian community,” the statement reads.

“The outcomes from these IKT outreach programs are focused on the most significant learnings in the countries we visit and, capturing the innovations that will have positive impacts on the way in which our pavements are designed and built in Australia.”

AAPA IKT key areas of interest:

Waste stream recycling practices in Europe: procedure to assess recycled materials in pavement applications.

Trends in the European asphalt pavement industry: binder performance and testing, asphalt mix performance and testing and road maintenance/preservation strategies.

Circular economy, sustainability and the environment: current activities and technologies in Europe and low temperature asphalt and cold mix recycling.

The IKT will run 2-9 May, with support from the Australian Road Research Board. For more information click here.
