
Muti-million dollar works to upgrade the accessibility of Point Clare train station in New South Wales are now complete, providing better access for people with mobility aids, prams or luggage.
The new upgrades include upgraded pathways and lighting to improve safety for people travelling to and from Point Clare station. New lifts will also connect each platform to the commuter car parks. A new ramp and stairs from the Kurrawa Avenue commuter carpark will also connect to the lift.
The works have also seen new accessible parking spaces, two new kiss and ride car spaces and a fully accessible toilet installed.
The Point Clare station upgrade was funded by the NSW Government’s $2.2 billion Transport Assistance Program (TAP). The TAP aims to deliver a better experience for public transport customers across NSW by providing accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said more than 400 projects have been delivered as part of the $2.2 billion TAP program.
“This is about ensuring our public transport network is accessible for everyone and since 2011 our government has delivered more than 470 TAP projects across the state,” he said.
“The reality is many of our regional stations were neglected for years prior to 2011 which is why [the State] Government has invested in the infrastructure that matters to regional communities through programs like TAP.”
From 16 November to 30 November 2020, the community was invited to provide feedback on the early concept design of the Point Clare Station Upgrade.
Minor finishing work for the Point Clare Station upgrades, including site clean-up, will be completed over the coming weeks.
