All 48 regional councils in Victoria have been successful in securing a portion of more than $30 million in the first round of the state government’s $100 million Fixing Country Roads Program.
The first round grands will go towards 91 projects across Victoria such as road rehabilitation, resealing works, bridge strengthening or road safety improvements.
Successful projects include City of Geelong’s rebuilding and widening of Perkins Road at Lara, Surf Coast Shire’s bridge strengthening project at Cape Otway Road and construction of sealing of Flynns Creek Road for Latrobe City Council.
The second round of grants under the program will open next year, with $70 million available to councils with eligible projects.
The Victorian Government said councils to receive funding in round one must deliver works by June 2019, while round two projects must be delivered by June 2020.
