VicRoads and Fulton Hogan have formed a maintenance alliance to improve regional roads for South Western and Eastern Victoria.
The Victorian Government announced that the alliance between VicRoads and Fulton Hogan will deliver critical road maintenance services to regional Victoria for the next five years, starting from Tuesday this week.
The alliance will deliver more efficient maintenance services including road repairs, bridge maintenance, roadside clearing and improvement works and manage emergency responses.
Alliance staff will be located in VicRoads depots and offices enabling a shared responsibility for engaging with the community, managing road maintenance and being more strategic in response to road maintenance challenges.
The use of the alliance model extends from the existing partnership between VicRoads and Downer Group in the North Eastern region since 2010, which has now been extended until 2020.
The partnership between the road authority and a leader in road infrastructure management and maintenance will continue for a further five years after both parties hailed their first period working together as ‘the best’.
The North Eastern alliance has already improved the area by delivering projects such as the $14 million Omeo Highway upgrade and the installation of wire rope barriers on the Hume Freeway.
The announcement follows the recent commitment to spend $135.6 million over the next year to repair unsafe and deteriorating roads across Victoria including an $80 million investment for road resurfacing under the Road Surface Replacement Program.
