rcw-news-surveying-medThe Western Australian government is welcoming applications for the state’s WA Training Awards 2016.

Deputy Premier and Training and Workforce Development Minister Liza Harvey this week launched the awards and said this year’s program would include a new award.

“We have introduced a new category, the WA International Student of the Year, providing an opportunity to celebrate the successes of international students in our training system,” said Mrs. Harvey in a statement.

“We have also broadened the eligibility of the WA School-based Apprentice of the Year category, so that school students undertaking Certificate II qualifications and above are now eligible to apply.

In addition to these changes, the WA Training Initiative Award has been replaced by the WA industry Collaboration Award. This is to highlight the co-operation between two or more organisations in innovative skill development.

Applications are now open in 13 categories for individuals and organisations, including WA Apprentice of the Year, WA Trainer of the Year and WA Employer of the Year.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday, May 13, 2016.

Award winners will be announced in September and each winner will receive $5000 in cash or prizes. The winners of the state awards may also be eligible to compete against the nation’s best in the Australian Training Awards later this year.
