The conference, taking place from 10-12 October 2017, will be held in Asia for the first time with Singapore recognised globally for its BIM advancements and innovation in infrastructure.Bentley Systems, a leading global provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure, this week announced that its Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference will be held Oct. 10-12 in Singapore.

Taking place place at Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore location brings the conference to a city recognised globally for its innovation in infrastructure and for the first time to Asia.

Greg Bentley, CEO, Bentley Systems, said, “I have long admired Singapore for its innovative use of technology in the delivery and operation of infrastructure, and now it is leading the world with its BIM advancements. In 2015, Singapore was designated the most ‘Tech-Ready Nation’ by The World Economic Forum’s Global Information Technology Report. In addition to Marina Bay Sands’ unrivalled conferencing facilities and luxurious accommodations is its spectacular structural design and engineering. We are proud to note that this extraordinary building was structurally engineered using Bentley Systems software.”

Bentley Systems has contributed to the advancement of infrastructure in Southeast Asia over the years through many projects. Most recently, Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit has selected Bentley’s Optram software to model, analyse, and provide decision support for the maintenance of the MRT track assets, and the Singapore Land Authority has used Bentley software to create and maintain a high-resolution 3D model of the entire country, as part of its Smart Nation initiative. This 3D model will cover an area of more than 700 square kilometres and includes detailed maps, terrain, surface, buildings, and roads. This data will be shared by government agencies to support operations, planning, and risk management.

Jeannie Lim, executive director, conventions, meetings, and incentive travel, Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau, said, “We are delighted to welcome Bentley Systems’ Year in Infrastructure Conference to Singapore in 2017, and we are honored to host it for the first time in Asia. Similar to Bentley Systems using software to advance infrastructure, Singapore is also gearing up to be a ‘Smart Nation’ by harnessing technology to empower citizens and further strengthen our economy. We wish the conference success, and hope that participants will have the opportunity to experience some of Singapore’s many unique attractions.”

The Year in Infrastructure Conference is a unique opportunity to learn about best practices in advancing collaboration and technological innovation among the architectural, engineering, construction, and operations disciplines and includes:

– global leaders in infrastructure design, construction, and operations sharing knowledge and best practices through presentations, interactive workshops, and projects nominated for the annual Be Inspired Awards;

– opportunities to learn from the Be Inspired Awards program, which recognises the most outstanding BIM advancements and achievements in designing, engineering, constructing, delivering, and/or operating safer, more resilient, sustainable, and intelligent roads, bridges, buildings, plants, water distribution networks, and a host of other infrastructure assets; and

– networking opportunities with industry peers and thought leaders from around the world.

The 2016 Year in Infrastructure Conference is being held from 1-3 November at the Hilton London Metropole, London, UK.
