Bill Fulton Bridge duplication is on the way

The Queensland Government has awarded the contract to duplicate the bridge on the Cairns Western Arterial Road this week.

A joint venture between Albem Operations and Highway Construction will undertake the upgrade, which is on track to begin in November.

The $34.2 million project will include 120 metres of new bridging, duplication of 700 metres of Cairns Western Arterial Road between Brinsmead Road and Redlynch Connection Road and signalisation of the Brinsmead Road intersection.

The upgrade is funded by the Queensland Government’s $180 million Significant Regional Infrastructure Projects Program (SRIPP).

The SRIPP is part of the State Government’s $2 billion State Infrastructure Fund, which is expected to support more than 280 regional jobs.
