The new Parkdale Station has opened following the removal of two sets of boom gates, moving the Frankston line one step closer to becoming level crossing free by 2029 in Victoria.
The level crossing at Parkers Road, Parkdale has been removed by building a rail bridge over the road. During a two-week closure the LXRP worked to connect the elevated rail bridge to the existing Frankston Line.
The new station has been fitted out with modern facilities, a forecourt, gathering places for locals and station precinct parking.
Work still remains to be done, including finishing the lifts, and creating the open space and recreational facilities.
These spaces include a basketball half court, open-air gym, village green, a community garden and a nature-based play area.

By 2025, a new shared use path will connect Parkdale to Cheltenham via Mentone and set the groundwork for a future connection to Mordialloc.
A shuttle service between Mentone and Mordialloc stations will continue until the lifts open, for passengers who are unable to use the stairs. While Parkers Road in Parkdale will reopen to vehicles on Thursday 8 August.
