Upgrades to the Grange Burn Bridge on the Henty Highway, in Victoria are now complete.

Key upgrades included strengthening the existing structure of the bridge, resurfacing the road, installing new barriers on the bridge and rebuilding the pedestrian footpath.

Major bridge works were completed in May 2025, with full on-road access restored. This project is part of the Federal and Victorian governments’ investment in the Green Triangle region – a key freight route linking south-western Victoria, the Port of Portland, and the South Australian border.

The Grange Burn Bridge is one of three bridges being upgraded in the region, with works on the Charcoal Bridge completed in 2024 and design work underway for the Wattle Creek Bridge.

About 2000 vehicles use this stretch of road every day, including more than 300 heavy vehicles.

Strengthening the bridge will allow heavier loads to travel along this key freight route, supporting the forestry, wind farming, mineral sands and dairy production industries.

The upgrades will also improve safety and connectivity for those in south-west Victoria.

Catherine King, Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development for the Victorian Government, said investing in the bridge’s long-term durability was important for the freight route.

Victorian Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora added, “We’ve reinforced the structure of the bridge to ensure strength and durability and to facilitate heavy vehicle movements, including super loads.”
