With major works underway on the new Raywood Station on the Swan Hill line in Victoria, concept designs have been released giving locals a preview of how it will look when finished.
The new station on the Swan Hill Line will feature a single-sided platform, seating and shelter, bike hoops, and a car park with CCTV and lighting.
Raywood Station is the third station being delivered as part of Bendigo Metro 3, with the Goornong, Huntly and Raywood stations forming part of the works. The project will aim to give people in growing communities access to trains close to where they live. The new Goornong Station on the Echuca line opened in December, while works have also progressed on the new Huntly Station.
The new stations are being delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s $49.6 million investment in Bendigo Metro 3.
As part of further works on the Bendigo and Echuca line, ten level crossings between Eaglehawk and Bendigo will also be upgraded with better train detection technology, boosting safety and allowing more services to run in this section.
Crews on the Raywood Station have completed excavations, built concrete footings and placed pre-cast segments in place to begin construction of the station’s 180 metre-long platform, with electrical and communications works to take place in the coming weeks.
Victorian Minister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan said the new station would provide commuters with greater access to Bendigo and the rest of Victoria.
“With the new Raywood Station to be operating by the end of the year, we’re pleased to be sharing a first glimpse of how it will look with the local community,” she said.
Huntly Station, on the Echuca Line, is targeted for delivery by mid-2022. The Raywood Station is targeted for delivery later this year.
