Two consortia have been shortlisted by the Western Australian Government to design and construct the newly announced Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridge.

The two consortia shortlisted includes Civmec SWC WSP (Civmec, Seymour Whyte and WSP) and Matagarup Heirisson Alliance (Decmil, Arup and SRG).

Both consortia will submit detailed proposals for the initial design as well as the final construction of the bridge, which will connect Victoria Park foreshore to Heirission island and Perth’s CBD.

The new bridge will be six metres wide, with allocated pedestrian and cyclist lanes. Over 1400 cyclists and 1900 pedestrians currently use the existing Causeway bridge every day, a major factor in improving the sites infrastructure.

An alliance contract is planned to be awarded in late 2021, with construction on the bridge expected to start mid 2022 and finish by the mid 2024.
