A 24/7 construction blitz has wrapped up as part of level crossing removal works in Melton and Truganina, with train services now resuming on the Ballarat Line in Victoria.
Crews have completed excavation work, surface preparation, track work and line marking in the rail corridor at Coburns and Exford roads, Melton.
The work paves the way for construction of the new, elevated Melton Station with four platforms, a pedestrian through link to ensure easy access across the rail line and two new rail bridges to take trains over Coburns and Exford roads.
During the two-week blitz, a new roundabout was constructed at the intersection of Brooklyn Road and Hazel Street, and the entrance to Melton Square Shopping Centre was rebuilt to allow for future bus movements in the area.
Piling also started at Ferris Road, Melton, to lay foundations for the new road bridge, which will take cars over the rail line.

The new Melton Station will provide modern facilities for commuters and is being built with extended platforms ready for longer VLocity trains, boosting passenger capacity by 50 per cent.
In total, the Victorian Government is removing 110 level crossings across Melbourne by 2030 as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in the state’s history.
The project has made Victorian roads safer by preventing 111 crashes and near misses every year and has slashed travel times in the morning by saving 55 hours of boom gate down time, according to the State Government.
