Regional trains are now rolling into the new Wyndham Vale stabling yard.

V/Line’s regional network is expected to benefit from greater flexibility due to the opening of the stabling yard on the Geelong line.

The new storage facility for trains will be operational following a 10-day schedule of final testing and commissioning works. This will include extensive driver training to help drivers familiarise themselves with the new infrastructure.

The stabling yard will initially house up to six V/Locity trains at one time, with buildings constructed for staff amenities, security and utilities.

It has been designed to cater for an expansion if required, with future network improvements in the pipeline.

Several sustainable initiatives were also implemented during construction, including the use of recycled plastic sleepers, the use of a recycled plastic asphalt mix and the use of recycled glass sand.

The stabling yard, built just north of Wyndham Vale Station will now be handed over to V/Line and the Department of Transport for operation.
