McIlwain Civil has been awarded the construction contract for the $16 million D’Aguilar Highway upgrade project between Caboolture and Kilcoy in Queensland.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said in a statement that the project is being fully funded by the Australian Government.

“I’m pleased to announce McIlwain Civil as the contractor for the project, which will deliver safety improvements along the D’Aguilar Highway at high-risk locations between Caboolture and Kilcoy,” he said.

Federal Member for Longman Wyatt Roy said in a statement that funding for the project was an election commitment.

“Locals have been calling for works on this stretch of road, and I’m proud to have been part of the team which has delivered them,” he said.

“The upgrade will include the construction of 1.2-kilometre eastbound overtaking lane between the Gamgee Road intersections and resealing the road surface between Neurum Road and Canando Street.

“Other works will include safety improvements at the two Gamgee Road intersections themselves, including creating dedicated turning lanes and lighting at the Gamgee Road East intersection.

“Additional signage will also be installed at the Canando Street intersection as part of the project.”

Construction will begin in October and will take approximately one year to complete.
