SEE Civil Pty Ltd has been awarded the tender to build the $27.5 million project, set to begin in mid-January.

The Beaudesert Town Centre Bypass will start at the intersection of the Mount Lindesay Highway at Helen Street and connect to Bromelton Street (Beaudesert–Boonah Road), providing new signalised intersections at each end.

According to a statement from Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey, the new 1.5-kilometre, two-lane road is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2017, weather permitting.

“Early works have been underway on the corridor from earlier this year, getting the site prepared for major works to ensure we get on with the job as soon as possible so the community can take advantage of its benefits,” he said.

“We have already completed some minor works, including service relocations for water, electricity, sewerage and telecommunications, as well as vegetation clearing and installing fencing.

He said that when the bypass opens, it is expected to be used by more than 3000 vehicles a day, many being heavy freight vehicles.
