Designs to link Doncaster Park and Ride to new express bus lanes along an upgraded Eastern Freeway have been approved, as part of the North East Link.
The North East Link is a part of the Victorian Governments Big Build project which will oversee the delivery of three major road projects.
Other works include the M80 Ring Road Completion and Eastern Freeway Upgrades which will include new lanes, smart technology and a seamless connection to the North East Link tunnels.
The program of works will open in 2028 – bringing all the pieces of North East Link together.
The new Eastern Busway is expected to slash bus times by up to 30 per cent for more than six million bus trips a year.
Doncaster Park and Ride will connect into the new busway under a rebuilt Doncaster Road bridge.

Three new bus platforms at the park and ride will make more space for express and connecting local bus services, and a new multi-level car park will work together with a second park and ride already built in Bulleen to double the number of parking spaces for the new Eastern Busway.
Walking and cycling connections, bicycle parking and passenger services will also all be improved.
While the Urban Design and Landscape Plan for the new-look Doncaster Park and Ride was on exhibition in September 2024 it was viewed online more than 39,600 times and just over 245 submissions were received.
In response to feedback received from the local community and park and ride passengers, the final UDLP includes more trees and plants to help screen the multi-level car park, passenger services buildings and noise wall.
It also includes improved building designs with architectural screens, patterned concrete and more muted colours, a simpler ‘Drop and Go zone’ for cars and pedestrians and improved traffic flow as well as extra facilities for cyclists and pedestrians including a bicycle repair station and drinking fountain.
