The final designs have been revealed for upgrades to Ballarat Station in western Victoria, with the project set to deliver a range of accessibility upgrades for passengers.
These upgrades will make it easier for people living with disability to access station facilities, as well as passengers with prams and luggage. The project will also deliver a new pedestrian overpass, along with lifts and stairs installed at bot platforms.
Access will also be improved to the existing northern station entrance with a new ramp, stairs, and automatic sliding door. These improvements will make it easier and safer for all commuters to cross between the platforms and use the northern station entrance, closest to other destinations such as the bus interchange and multideck parking, in the station precinct.
The release of the final designs follows community consultation and engagement with Heritage Victoria and the Office of the Victorian Government Architect.

Construction on the project is set to begin next year and will be completed in 2026.
The works will build on the Ballarat Line Upgrade, which delivered an extra 135 weekly services for Ballarat and growing communities along the line. Trains now run every 20 minutes on average during peak times.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said the designs aim to uphold the historical significance of Ballarat Station without compromising accessibility.
“This important upgrade will make it easier for everyone to navigate the station, with lift access to both platforms and a new northern entrance,” Settle said.
