Disaster recovery work is underway on New South Wales’ Bruxner Highway at Mallanganee.
This work, carried out by Transport for NSW, includes repairing and stablising two downslopes which were damaged in a landslip between Willock Street and Bulmers Road, roughly 40 kilometres west of Casino.
The work will also require the installation of soil nails and micropiles drilled deep into the slope, together with improvements to drains and culverts.
It is expected that these works will take six months to complete.

NSW Minister for Recovery Janelle Saffin recognised these works as critical for developing the area’s resilience to natural disasters.
“We have faced severe weather in recent years, and this work is about more than repairing damage,” she said.
“It’s about strengthening our transport network so communities can recover faster and be better prepared for future events.”
The disaster recovery work is being funded by a $9.5 million joint investment from the Federal and NSW governments.
This funding was made available under the Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
It will ensure the Bruxner Highway can continue to provide essential access between towns and villages across northern NSW.
