Downer awarded $540M road maintenance contract

Downer awarded $540M road maintenance contract

A $540 million road maintenance contract has been awarded to Downer for works in New Zealand.

As part of the contract, Downer will deliver asset management, surfacing and renewals for road corridors, footpaths, bridges, culverts, lighting and on-road cycle lanes for the Hamilton City Council of New Zealand’s North Island.

The contract has a maximum term of 10 years. The contracts initial term of five years will include provisions for extensions of three years, followed by a further two years.

Downer CEO Peter Tompkins said the company looked forward to working with Hamilton City Council on the works.

“Downer will deliver reliable road networks to ensure efficient and safe journeys and also provide opportunities for local service providers and suppliers across the region,” Tompkins said.

Downer has a long relationship with Hamilton City Council dating back to the Hamilton Infrastructure Alliance which commenced in 2013.
