EOI open for $131m Yan Yean Road upgrade

The Victorian Government is seeking applications from construction companies to undertake the 3.9-kilometre duplication project in Plenty.The Victorian Government is calling for expressions of interest to undertake the 3.9-kilometre duplication of Yan Yean Road in Plenty.

The $131 million upgrade between Diamond Creek Road and Kurrak Road will expand the existing two lanes to four, and includes upgrades to the River Avenue, Kurrak Road and Diamond Creek Road intersections.

The upgrade also includes construction of a centre median to prevent head-on crashes, straightening the road to improve driver visibility and the addition of new service roads to allow residents to safely access their properties. New off road cycling and pedestrian paths will also be added.

Yan Yean Road has seen 44 crashes, resulting in one fatality and eight serious injuries, since 2010. The key north-south arterial road also currently carries more than 22,000 vehicles per day.

Expressions of interest will close 18 January 2017 with shortlisted companies to be invited to be part of the tender process in March ahead of the start of construction works on the project from mid 2017.
