VicRoads is calling for expressions of interest from businesses, industry bodies and transport technology organisations to be a part of its Connected and Automated Vehicle Trial Grants Program.
Up to $9 million in funding is available for program participants, which enables them to work in partnership with industry to trial connected and automated vehicle solutions that lead to road safety benefits.
The program is part of the Towards Zero Road Safety Action Plan 2016-2020, and aims to explore the safety benefits of these applications, which according to a VicRoads news release includes:
Vehicle automation on highways and motorways – such as lane centering (or lane keeping) and adaptive cruise control, highway chauffeur or highway pilot applications.

Connected vehicle applications such as intersection movement assist, red-light violation warning, and pedestrian intersection assist, in-vehicle speed alerts, traffic notifications, and automated emergency call.
Applications will close on 20 December 2017.
