Expressions of Interest are being called for the joint $174.3 million Australian, State and Local Government project to remove the Oaklands Park level crossing in Adelaide’s south.
Prequalified companies and consortia have four weeks to prepare and submit an expression of interest, with the two highest ranking invited to submit a Request for Proposal.
The project incorporates the removal of the level crossing and proposes a rail underpass extending 400 metres east and west of the level crossing, and will include a new station.
South Australian Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Stephen Mullighan said the project also involves improvements to the bus and train interchange at Oaklands Park, as well as better access to the Marion precinct.
“We want to get on with this project so that we can deliver the road and rail benefits to the tens of thousands of people who travel through this part of the southern suburbs every day,” Mr. Mullighan said.
“Removing the level crossing will significantly reduce congestion for vehicle traffic held up by the boom gates, while also improving train services for the more than 15,000 passengers who use the Seaford line each day.”
Construction is earmarked to begin in the first half of 2018.
