The Victorian Government is seeking feedback on future changes to the Greensborough bus network, including a new flexible service.
The planned Greensborough FlexiRide service comes as part of a $109 million investment in bus upgrades announced in the 2022-23 Victorian Budget.
FlexiRide is an on-demand bus service with no fixed route, enabling passengers to book trips from their nearest physical or virtual bus stop to designated FlexiRide bus hubs in the same service area.
To allow for the introduction of the new flexible service, changes will be made to some routes on the current network.
Routes 514 Glenroy – Eltham via Greensborough, and 517 Northland – St Helena are planned to end at Greensborough, with the discontinued sections to be replaced by the FlexiRide service.
Route 518 Greensborough – St Helena West will also be replaced by FlexiRide, enabling locals to take advantage of a more accessible service.
The Department of Transport is working on a solution for St Helena Secondary College students who will be affected by the changes. All other local bus services, including school specials, will remain unchanged.
The changes to the Greensborough bus network are part of Victoria’s Bus Plan, which is aiming to improve the state’s bus network to better meet demand, improve accessibility and performance, and delivery value for money.
“We’re investing in buses for the Banyule and Nillumbik – listening to the community on how we can improve services, improve accessibility and deliver better outcomes for all passengers,” said Ben Carroll, Minister for Public Transport.
Member for Eltham Vicki Ward said: “We want to hear from the community about changes we are making to the local bus network to ensure locals can continue to get where they need to go easier than ever before.”
The community can provide feedback via an online survey until Sunday 23 October 2022, or at one of four information sessions to be held across Eltham and St Helena on 18 and 19 October.
An online information session will also be held on 3 October.
