The Australian Government this week has made a number of key safety appointments across the country under its national Black Spot Program.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester announced various appointments and reappointments to Black Spot Consultative Panels in states and territories around the nation.
The appointments are as follow:
– Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin has been named the new Chair of the South Australia Black Spot Consultative Panel.
– Senator Jonathon Duniam is the new Chair of the Tasmanian Black Spot Consultative Panel.
– Senator Zed Seselja has been reappointed as Chair of the ACT Black Spot Consultative Panel.
– Northern Territory Senator Nigel Scullion has been reappointed as Chair of the Northern Territory Black Spot Consultative Panel.
– Senator Dean Smith has been reappointed as Chair of the Western Australia Black Spot Consultative Panel.
Last week the Australian Government also appointed Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis as Chair of the New South Wales Black Spot Consultative Panel.
Each individual will work with a range of community and road user groups, industry members and government agencies to allocate funding under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program toward some of the most dangerous roads in their respective states and territories.
The Australian Government has committed $500 million to the Black Spot Programme over five years to 2018–19, which includes an additional $200 million over two years from 2015–16 to improve road safety across the nation.
