Grants awarded through Regional Growth Fund

Local governments across northern Victoria and southern New South Wales have received funding approval for foreshore redevelopments and upgrades to other public areas through the Federal Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the $272.2 million Regional Growth Fund provides grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects, creating regional jobs and support for long-term economic growth.

“In total, more than $16.8 million will be provided to seven local councils across the Mallee and Farrer electorates to fund a number of initiatives as part of this project,” he said.

Funding has been awarded to Gannawarra Shire, Swan Hill Rural City Council, Buloke Shire Council and Loddon Shire.

Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories Sussan Ley said the funding is positive news for the region and follows a highly competitive assessment process that saw more than 300 applications.

The Regional Growth Fund is part of the Federal Government’s $3.7 billion commitment to regional development programs.
