IPWEA Victoria launches online leadership programs

This year IPWEA Victoria is hosting its engineering and management leadership programs online.

Engineering Leadership Program

The Engineering Leadership Program has been created to develop the technical skills of public works practitioners in supervisory or co-ordination roles. With a focus on engineering services, projects and teams, the program aims to develop leading professionals.

This program comprises six sessions presented by sector experts and thought-leaders. Each session features pre-recorded videos for private study followed by a live 2-hour panel discussion.

There will be six dates for these courses, each with different focuses. Dates are subject to change.

  • 19th May: Leading a Technical Directorate – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by Yarra Ranges Shire
  • 9th June: Leading the Planning and Delivery of Works and Services – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by City of Monash
  • 14th July: Leading through Sustainability – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by City of Greater Geelong
  • 4th August: Intelligent Asset Management – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by City of Banyule
  • 25th August: Leading in Service Operations – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by City of Stonnington
  • 15th September: Community Engagement for Service Planning – 10:30am – 12:30pm – Presented by IPWEA with Local Government Victoria, mosaicLAB, Essential Services Commission and the City of Darebin

 

Management Leadership Program

The Management Leadership Program has been created to develop the business skills of public works practitioners in or seeking management roles.

With a focus on contemporary management practice and leadership approaches, the program aims to develop professional leaders.

This program comprises 12 half-day sessions presented by experienced IPAA facilitators. Each session features live and interactive presentations, group exercises and discussion. Dates are subject to change.

  • 26th May and 2nd June: Change and Innovation – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by Jo Clancy
  • 16th and 23rd June: Strategy, Innovation and Business Planning – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by Dahle Suggett
  • 21st and 28th July: Leadership and Building an Engaged Culture – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by Susan Inglis
  • 11th and 18th August: Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Management – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by David Hawkins
  • 1st and 8th September: Finance and Risk Management – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by Mark Priadko
  • 6th and 13th October: People Management – 9:30am – 1:00pm – Presented by Susan Inglis
