Industrial water trailers are essential in the construction industry, but every project is unique, and buying one trailer for each use on a project is not a practical solution.
This is where innovation in liquid management and a collaborative approach to developing fit-for-purpose water delivery equipment solutions has never been more important.
In an effort to address the challenges associated with finding the right water trailer for the right project, equipment hire company Kennards embarked on a mission to find a manufacturer to help build a fit-for-purpose multi-purpose trailer. The trailer needed to be durable and adhere to stringent safety standards of multiple civil construction sites.
After extensive market research, Kennards identified Coerco, Australia’s complete liquid management specialists as the business partner to develop the water trailer solution they had long been searching for.
With decades of experience in engineering high-quality water delivery equipment for the civil construction industry, Coerco has a product to suit every need. It discovered that Kennards required a multi-purpose trailer designed for dust suppression, wash down, water delivery and firefighting applications.
These transportable units would also need align with their brand identity and feature specifications that comply with the strictest site safety regulations across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
Division Coerco divisional manager Gareth Wallis provided insight into the partnership and how the new multi-purpose product got off the ground.
“After a series of collaborative meetings, a clear plan was devised on how the fleet of trailers would be built and delivered to multiple Kennards Hire branches. These included Balcatta, Belmont, Cannington, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Katherine, Midland, Palmerston, Port Hedland and Welshpool,” Wallis said.
Coerco equipped the Kennards trailers with specialised 1000 litre red water tanks, mounted on Coerco’s renowned heavy-duty galvanised trailer chassis, which supported a number of applications, including:
- Australian pumps with a 7 HP Yanmar diesel firefighter pump electric start;
- A rear-mounted 30 metre 25 mm firefighting hose reel for washdown and firefighting;
- Lockable battery isolator switch to prevent battery drain when not in use for long periods;
- Emergency stop button to quickly shutdown equipment in the event of an emergency.
Wallis added that Coerco also included a dust suppression system with a polyethylene spray bar with two 50 millimetre fan spray heads, as well as a number of mine-spec features.
“We incorporated an ADR compliant brake system, reflective tape strips for each side of the tank to increase vehicle visibility, and two sets of poly wheel chocks to prevent accidental movement,” Wallis said.
“A nine-kilogram fire extinguisher and mount bracket for easy access in fire emergencies was also included, plus a battery mounted inside an enclosed battery box for protection and safety purposes.”
The Coerco and Kennards partnership for these trailer units started back in 2018 when four units were built and trialled on different sites. Kennards has since secured over 25 water trailers for specific branches in both Western Australia and Northern Territory branches.
The build on the units has proven stronger and more durable than other alternatives available in the market, and they are capable of withstanding the rigors of the typical harsh conditions in the Pilbara and Northern Territory.
These water trailers reflect Coerco’s solid experience in providing innovative engineered solutions, and Kennards’ promise of making jobs easier is proof of a partnership done right.
