Applications for the Western Australian Government’s Zero Emissions Vehicle rebate scheme, which has so far paid back over $41 million for eligible purchases, will close soon.
Applications for the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) rebate scheme will close at midnight 10 May 2025.
The ZEV rebate scheme was announced in the 2022-23 Western Australian Budget to encourage the uptake of zero emission vehicles among Western Australian drivers by providing a $3500 rebate to those who purchase an eligible vehicle and apply to the Department of Transport.

The scheme has proven popular, with the State Government investing an additional $14.7 million in 2024-25 to meet demand for the rebate, boosting the original investment from $36.5 million to $51.2 million. As of 31 March 2025, 11,868 ZEV rebate applications have been paid, totalling $41,538,000.
The Department of Transport’s licensing data has shown that the number of electric vehicles in WA increased by over 692 per cent between 31 December 2021 and 31 December 2024, with just over 25,000 zero emission vehicles now on WA roads.
