One major road project on the Melton Highway in Victoria has begun, with another to begin in the coming weeks.
Works to upgrade the intersection of the Melton Highway and Leakes Road are now underway and are expected to be completed in late-2025. The Melton Highway Infill Duplication project will begin shortly and is expected to be complete by mid-2026.
As part of the Infill Duplication project, additional lanes and a new centre median will be built between Crown Drive and The Regency which will improve traffic flow and cater to the rapidly growing community.
New safety barriers, kerbs, drainage and street lighting will also be installed, and the existing shared use path on the south side of Melton Highway will be extended and connected.

Crews will also install new street lighting to improve visibility at night, and the road will be resurfaced with new kerbing and improved drainage.
Crews are also upgrading and aligning the intersection of Melton Highway and Leakes Road in Plumpton.
Turning lanes will be added to the intersection to improve traffic flow as part of the upgrade, and new traffic lights and pedestrian facilities will be installed to enable safer crossings.
Melissa Horne, Roads and Road Safety Minister, said the upgrades will ensure safer journeys for all.
“We know that Melton’s population is projected to increase to more than 400,000 residents by 2050 – which is why we’re delivering projects like these that will provide safer and more efficient journeys for years to come,” she said.
