Preparations have begun on the station concourses are now prepared for the delivery of new buildings for the Union Station in Victoria.
The new Union Station will feature modern facilities and entrances at both ends of the platforms, providing easy access to the station for residents of both Surrey Hills and Mont Albert.
The milestone forms part of on-going works to remove dangerous and congested level crossings at Union Road and Mont Albert Road and open the new Union Station in late May.

The two dangerous and congested level crossings at Union Road and Mont Albert Road will be removed by lowering the rail line into an open trench beneath the roads and combining the existing Surrey Hills and Mont Albert stations into a new premium station.
Arriving in six pieces, the new modular station buildings are pre-made and delivered on site before they’re lifted into place via cranes. This process aims to save money and time for the installation of the building concourse.
The boom gates will be gone, and Union Station will be open in 2023 – two years earlier than originally planned.
