All precast beam installations for the West Gate Tunnel project’s Hyde St Ramp is now complete, following more than 20 months worth of works on the section in Victoria.
CPB Contractors delivered the works, which included the installation of more than 180 Super-T Beams, 30 planks and two portal frames along the banks of a creek and over live roads.
The Hyde St Ramp on the northern side of the freeway will provide a new exit ramp for inbound traffic from the West Gate Freeway. Trucks carrying dangerous goods, or overheight trucks that can’t travel in tunnels, will also be able to avoid residential streets by using the new ramps to connect to the port and fuel depots on Hyde Street.
When complete, the West Gate Tunnel Project will ease congestion on the West Gate Freeway and West Gate Bridge, and reduce the number of trucks on residential streets.
