Proposals invited to design and build $64.8M Wanneroo Rd interchange

Following a six-week expression of interest period, the Western Australian Government is now inviting interested contractors to submit proposals to build the $64.8M Wanneroo Road and Ocean Reef Road interchange.

Western Australian Minister for Transport Rita Saffioti said John Holland Pty Ltd, Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction Pty Ltd and WBHO Infrastructure-SRG Joint Venture had now been invited to submit a proposal to design and construct the project in Perth’s northern suburbs.

“The request for proposals for this important project is a significant milestone in our plan to tackle congestion in Perth’s northern suburbs,” Ms. Saffioti said.

“Together with the METRONET rail extension to Yanchep, we are ensuring the northern suburbs has the transport infrastructure in place to match future growth.”

The project is one of three major upgrades planned for Perth’s northern corridor, along with the widening of Wanneroo Road between Joondalup Drive and Flynn Drive and an upgrade of the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive intersection.

The Australian Government has committed $51.8 million to fund the $64.8 million project, with Western Australia committing the remaining $12.96 million.

A contract award is anticipated in late 2018.
